The all-new Nissan Resonance concept won the EyesOn Design Award at the North American International Auto Show.
Online PR News – 25-January-2013 – ALLENTOWN, Pennsylvania – Several new concepts emerged from the world’s best automakers this year at the North American International Auto Show, but there was only one that could merit the EyesOn Design Award for Best Concept Vehicle: the all-new Nissan Resonance concept. Rothrock Nissan (rothrocknissan.com) gathered all the details direct from the auto show.
The Resonance is actually a foreshadowing of what fans can expect for the next-generation Murano, an all-wheel drive crossover that has taken the industry by storm. What fans and critics liked so much about the Resonance concept for the Murano was the element of space travel, an image that Nissan designers worked hard to create. It may sound strange, but Rothrock Nissan reports that the design, which reminds viewers of what vehicles from the future may look like, is really distinct and stunning. The image of futuristic transport is created by elements such as the floating roof and innovative sculpted styling for better aerodynamics.
"This design is not meant to appeal to traditional two-box SUV shoppers, but rather to those whose fashion and design choices make a statement. For Nissan, this concept makes our statement about the future of this segment," said Nissan.
A “one-motor, two-clutch” hybrid electric powertrain powers the Resonance concept. This allows for a seamless switch from the gas engine to the electric motor, or vice-versa. Several adjustments to the hybrid electric system will allow for what Nissan hopes will be class-leading fuel-economy for the future Murano. The exterior is bold, unique, and appealing to a new generation of fashionistas. It is arguably ahead of its time, but that is what Nissan was striving for. Inside, the future concept is continued with the Nissan “VIP lounge,” which integrates white leather, brown accents, blue lighting, and a digital, rear-projected, holographic center stack display with a holographic instrument cluster.
