The CAP for the academic session 2013-15 will be the third one. The previous two CAPs were organized by IIM Ranchi and IIM Rohtak.
Now let us discuss the features that you need to remember about CAP.
Benefits of CAP: Students will be immensely benefitted. Their time will be saved as they do not need to sit for WAT & PI rounds at various institutes. It not only saves time on part of students but also on the part of IIMs as the whole process gets smooth and easy.
How CAP will work: While IIM Raipur, Ranchi & Udaipur have the same short listing criteria, IIM Trichy, Rohtak and Kashipur have different criteria. Each IIM will prepare its own short list of candidates based on their respective criteria. The combined list of candidates to be considered for further processing will be prepared by the coordinating IIM, namely IIM Raipur.
From the combined list, candidates called for WAT & PI rounds by the older participating IIMs will be set aside. The remaining candidates will be called for a common WAT & PI.
The PI & WAT scores of the candidates set aside from the common shortlist will be obtained from the respective older IIMs from which they got the interview calls. Those who have been called by more than one older IIMs will have their PI & WAT score averaged for further processing.
Participation of older IIMs: For CAP 2013, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Kozhikode have agreed to share their WAT and PI score with the 6 New IIMs. Though the first year of CAP did not have any participation from old IIMs, IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow participated in the process next year.
If for some reasons, anyone called by older IIMs happens to miss the interview(s), he/she will not be eligible to attend the common PI & WAT process of the six new IIMS and so will not be considered for admission to the six new IIMs.
Final selection criteria: After normalizing the PI & WAT scores across panels, across centres, and across different IIMs, a combined merit list will be prepared for the entire lot of students to be considered for admission to the six new IIMs.
Each individual new IIMs will take the normalized PI & WAT score of the candidates shortlisted by them and combine it with scores for other criteria—CAT score, profile score and any other score to make their own individual merit list to make final offers to candidates.
Venues & dates: According to IIM Raipur, the CAP will be conducted in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai between February 15 and March 6. It will be held in Bangalore on February 15-24, in Delhi on February 15-19 and on February 28 to March 4, in Mumbai on February 15-24, in Kolkata on February 27 to March 4 and in Chennai on March 1-6.
