04/21/2010

Experts have revealed that couples who get behind the wheel of their vehicle moments after having an argument are at a greater risk of causing and being part of a road traffic accident.

Online PR News – 21-April-2010 – – 'Romantic road rage' causes a third of drivers to drive more aggressively and therefore posing a danger to both themselves and other road users.

This is a theory endorsed by Relationship Psychologist, Honey Langcaster-James who said: "A driver's performance can be significantly affected by their emotional state - being upset, angry or frustrated with a partner or lover is a sure-fire way to distract from safe and responsible driving.

"With personal issues racing through their mind, drivers are at risk of subconsciously releasing tension by driving fast, or on the other hand being distracted by their heartache."

36 percent of motorists surveyed about 'romantic road rage' admitted that their concentration on the road waned after an argument and 19 percent owned up to driving erratically after a row.

In a bid to reduce the risk of unwanted UK car insurance claims drivers are being urged to think before entering their vehicle to ensure that they are in the best frame of mind to drive for the safety of all road users including their own.
