Austin Reed looks to its British, classic tailoring heritage since 1900 to create a distinctive collection for SS13.

Online PR News – 07-January-2013 – London – The collection encompasses sharp suiting for the office and beautifully tailored jackets for casual sophistication this season.

Formalwear – Tailoring Mastery

British heritage inspired in its outlook, key pieces include the Prince of Wales overcheck suit, with traditional hoof-cut waistcoat bringing Edwardian tailoring back to the fore of men’s style.

The focus of heritage formalwear is in the recreation of the Summit shirt. The Summit shirt first appeared in Austin Reed in 1909 and was so named as it epitomised the pinnacle of shirting; as it does again today. Featuring three different shirting variations made from luxury two fold Egyptian yarns including a rounded collar with tiepin, forward point collar and classic cutaway collar shirt; heritage style has never been better.

Ties are of particular note this season, not only due to the return to fashion of tiepins that are featured in the Summit shirting but because of the striking colour palette. Notable colours include magenta, hot pink, burnt rust and orange.

Heritage makes its mark here too with Savile Row style Club ties in classic red, navy, gold and featuring Fleur de Lys emblems.

Finally, a selection of linen ties especially designed for wedding suiting makes a new entry to men’s accessories this year.

Austin Reed’s Cut collection brings sharp tailoring and detailed design to the forefront of mens suiting for SS13.

The city skyline is the inspiration of Austin Reed’s sharp Cut collection for SS13.

The collection is confident and opulent with an emphasis on Mayfair style.

The look is epitomised in a double-breasted charcoal windowpane check, 3-piece suit drawing on classic elements and evolving them into a crisp and contemporary tailoring expressing discreet, luxury, British style.

Bold, bright blues resonate through the collection, best showcased in a bright blue pinstripe suit.

Meticulous attention to detail is found in bold linings and rainbow stitching which has become the hallmark of Cut design.

Separates are also key to the collection; key pieces include the brown and navy gingham blazer and the blue tattersall check jacket.

A classic summer suit in wool cotton blend is given a contemporary fit in stone and navy for hot summer days.

Casualwear retains a smart, refined elegance of the English Riviera, featuring a tailored blue blazer with white buttons, the 100% linen blue jacket from the 110 heritage collection and gingham blazer with leather elbow patches.

Classic linen shirts, traditional polo shirts, textured cardigans and a lightweight flyaway raincoat mac complete the British heritage look.

Finally, a Harrington jacket for a more casual appearance to keep out the chill on British summer evenings completes the gentleman’s wardrobe for SS13.

Austin Reed womenswear showcases a new collection for SS13 focused on its traditional tailoring values, bringing striking shapes, colour, graphic print and depth to suiting and workwear this season.

The ultra-premium Signature line sees a mocha and blush colour palette interspersed with abstract check.

Pleating, floaty and draped fabrics define these pieces signified by form and shape. Femininity and British heritage is further signalled through lace bib detailing on blouses.

A suggestion of a summer tea party story permeates the collection with the cobalt floral pattern dress, aqua blouse and shades of pink.

The recently launched AR Red collection features a jet black wool trouser and dress suit with peplum jacket and dress giving a definitive, sharp edge to corporate styling. Where it’s not monochrome, the colour to watch is teal, appearing in a striking teal dress and jacket.

Finally, a stand-alone white crepe jacket makes the perfect separate for the season.
