Online PR News – 14-April-2010 – – A talented young entertainer from Lancashire has proved he has the OX factor by being invited to join a well-known Merseyside act.
10-month-old California sea lion Reggie has moved from Blackpool Zoo to Knowsley Safari Park. turning the talented trio of Max, Biffo and Arthur into a fishy Ofab four.
According to Safari Park General Manager, David Ross, the new sea lion show star is settling in well: When Reggie first arrived our trainer Ellie Shurlock had to give him plenty of OTLC as it was his first time away from home, and the experience was probably like being sent to boarding school.
³However, our three original sea lions welcomed him with open flippers and he now seems to be very happy to be the centre of so much attention.
Reggie has also proved to be a very quick learner and has already picked up how to do a number of tricks and routines in the act.
Currently hes making a special guest appearance towards the end of the show and the Oaah factor is tremendous - the audience absolutely love him which is great, added the safari boss.
Knowsley's sea lions live next to the sea lion theatre in a £600,000 custom-built facility which was completed in 2008.
It includes a large pool, rocks, beaches and waterfall effects as well as an underwater viewing area which enables visitors to watch the sea lions antics throughout the day, not just at show times.
Along with the baboons and the meerkats, the sea lions have always been one of Knowsley's most popular exhibits.
They also have some famous friends, having appeared on national TV when England cricketing hero, Freddie Flintoff, trained as a sea lion show presenter at the park as part of a TV series on unusual careers.
