Online PR News – 14-April-2010 – – For the convenience of the users, Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones has been released as a publicly available beta. The client has been tested internally by RIM since February and the general release includes a number of extra features. The client enables BlackBerry users to tailor the way in which replies and direct messages are pushed to their devices. In this, new messages are sent in real time so that users can respond in an instant.

The app provides notice of tweets and re-tweets; this further allows users to search Twitter for keywords and the layout has been optimized for the smaller screens on BlackBerry devices. Without visiting the third party site, links are automatically shortlisted. The free app runs in the background which allows BlackBerry users to continue accessing emails or surfing the Internet while still sending and receiving tweets. In adition to this, users can build, view and edit Twitter lists, and take and share photos using their BlackBerry's built-in camera.

Presently, there is no support for trending topics, but RIM is hopping to add this application on time for the client's full release in the coming months. These days, popularity of updating Twitter accounts through mobile phones is increasing at a high rate. Many of the main mobile platforms, including Google Android devices and iPhones from Apple also offer bespoke Twitter clients.
