Rippy Cadillac Features Gauge Cluster Options for XTS

Rippy Cadillac now has the new 2013 Cadillac XTS in the showrooms. The new model XTS features the first all-digital instrument cluster with four selectable themes.

Online PR News – 03-December-2012 – Wilmington, NC – Rippy Cadillac is pleased to announce that the all-new 2013 Cadillac XTS features the first all-digital instrument cluster with four selectable themes, allowing drivers to tailor the luxury sedan to their specific interests. This industry-exclusive experience is powered by CUE, which is Cadillac’s in-vehicle experience for control and connectivity. CUE is available on XTS models with the Premium or Platinum trim levels.
The four layouts are controlled by an easy-to-use multi-directional switch located on the steering wheel. The switch operates the 12.3-inch LCD screen, which replaces the now seemingly archaic analog dials. Just like these traditional dials, the screen displays vehicle speed and fuel information. New for the XTS, however, is the display technology that allows drivers to tinker with the actual design and what is displayed.
Scott Martin, senior creative designer who is in charge of building the digital cluster layouts, said, “We spent time with owners of all kinds of vehicles to learn how they used the radio, navigation, phone settings, and other user connectivity features. Most drivers fall into one of four different categories in terms of the amount of information they want to see at any given time, so we built the XTS gauge cluster layouts to appeal to any one of those drivers.”
The first layout is the balanced display, which is the default cluster design. It mimics the traditional layout and features the speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, radio station information, and outside temperature. Second is the performance layout, intended for enthusiast drivers. It gives information on the car itself. The third layout is the enhanced cluster display, which is for drivers who like to stay connected. It is web-inspired and displays information easily. Last is the simple cluster layout, which is a minimalist’s paradise. While it solely focuses on speed, fuel, and audio, other options can be called up upon the driver’s request.
“Drivers can also further customize each layout to their own personal liking,” Martin went on to say. “They can flip through all the information pages to permanently display their favorite preset radio stations, check tire pressure, navigation, fuel range, and temperature among other features.”
