Online PR News – 01-December-2012 – 30 November, 2012 – 30 November, 2012- Mumbai: Grow Your Food Project (gyfProject), a community volunteer based project that encourages urban dwellers to grow some of their food in urban homes is participating in Kavita Mukhi's organic initiative, Farmer's Market. The Farmer's Market is held on every Sunday (till March 24, 2013), at Maharashtra Nature Park, Opposite Dharavi Bus Depot, Mumbai. Apart from having organic vegetables and fruits for sale, the market also has organic food and organic product stalls. gyfProject will be participating with a stall having plants for sale and also a food stall offering 'cultural' food - made from traditional recipes and ingredients.

Saurabh Narvekar, one of the lead volunteers of the gyfProject, explained about the Grow Your Food initiative and said, "The 2 billion urban dwellers who do not grow food within city limits, create an enormous food burden on the environment. The gyfProject is an initiative that attempts to reduce this urban food burden and uses waste plastic bottles to grow this food, saving this urban bane from the landfills. Growing your own food also helps create more oxygen through these breathing plants while create a culture of food in the family. We hope to see the green, food producing Mumbai roof-tops through this project."
