Each year on the third Monday in January northern Californians of every age, background and walk of life experience a full day of free festivities in honor of Dr. King at San Franciscoâ€™s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Yerba Buena Gardens.
On Monday, January 21, 2013, thousands of celebrants will again come together for a full day of free and exciting programs, festivals and activities in honor of Dr. King and the 50th anniversary year of his famed â€śI Have a Dreamâ€ť address and the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The 2013 celebration will host events for all ages, including:
o 2013 MLK March & Parade;
o Commemorative Programs and Conversations with Civil Rights Luminaries;
o THE DREAM@50 Art Contest Award Ceremony;
o MLK2013 Music Festival;
o MLK2013 Health and Wellness Festival;
o Childrenâ€™s Programs and Activities;
o 2013 Liberation Film Festival Screenings;
o Author Interviews and Book Signings (in partnership with Marcus Books);
