Online PR News – 30-March-2010 – – Keeping the kids entertained over the school holidays is a nightmare. Dee from Hyde found a great solution Family DIY Courses; they teach you and all the family a new skill whilst doing something fun together.

Undergoing a huge property redevelopment in Hyde Dee opted to save costs on Tiling her bathroom and kitchen by enrolling on a Tiling Course. As it was the school holidays, Dee decided to get her young daughter involved and enrolled them both on a 4 day parent and teenager Tiling Course at The DIY School.

Dee said "I just thought it was a fantastic opportunity for my daughter and I to spend time together over the holidays and to help us both learn a new skill. As Emma is only 13 I was able to enroll her on the course for free".

We asked Emma what she thought of the tiling course "It was great, I learnt to tile and got to spend time with my mum!"

Now in 2010, Dee proudly shows off her and Emma's tiling in their bathroom and rightly so as the work they have carried out looks like they have had the professional tillers in!

Dee said "Even though the Tiling Course taught me everything I needed to know about tiling it took courage to start tiling my own bathroom....but as you can see; the results speak for themselves. It took plenty of planning, cutting and many tubs of adhesive however, we now have a stylish bathroom with straight walls and a heated marble floor. I am very proud of what Emma and I have achieved and would recommend any Mother and daughter to do the same as it has meant that Emma and I have spent quality time together whilst still carrying on with the renovations."

We visited The DIY Schools website and was very impressed with the DIY courses that they have to offer for both men and women. The success stories like Dee's told us about how women had started their own businesses after enrolling on decorating courses, men learning a new trade after being made redundant and many more.

If you are looking to spend time with your children in the school holidays I think this is an excellent idea, not only do you both learn a new skill; you also can also save money on DIY jobs needed around the home.
