(Calgary,CA) Idendego ’s CEO, Alena Pastuch of Idendego emphasizes the need for online software protection

The bottom line for online threats like phishing, spyware, and hackers is identity theft.

Online PR News – 30-March-2010 – – To an identity thief, your personal information can provide instant access to your financial accounts, your credit record, and other assets. One popular scam involves fake mortgage brokers who dangle super low rates if the applicant is quick to provide personal data. Another uses e-mails in which the sender poses as an Internet service provider asking for information and criminals use email to link consumers to phony Web sites that ask users to "confirm" their account information by entering it into an official-looking online form.

Some spammers search the Internet for unprotected computers they can control and use anonymously to send spam, turning them into a robot network. Spammers scan the Internet to find computers that aren't protected by security software, and then install bad software, known as "malware". That's one reason why up-to-date security software is critical. "Keep your security software active and current. Security software protects against the newest threats only if it is up-to-date'" says Alena Pastuch CEO of Idendego. "That's why it is critical to set your security software to update automatically." she added.

If your information has been misused, file a report about your identity theft with the police, and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/idtheft.
