In the aftermath of the storm, BMW of North America hands the American Red Cross $1 million to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Online PR News – 10-November-2012 – Escondido, CA – BMW of North America donated $1 million to Hurricane Sandy victims last week through the American Red Cross disaster relief fund.
“This donation will help the Red Cross give aid to the many who are in need in the affected areas,” said Ludwig Willisch, CEO and President, BMW of North America. “We support those who are working so hard on the recovery effort and we are encouraging our employees across North America to volunteer their time and money to the work underway. Our dealers already are active in their communities and we thank them for stepping up to meet the needs in their local areas.”
The Red Cross needs more donations and volunteers. Close to 6,000 workers are helping operations on the East Coast, spanning from Virginia to Rhode Island and mostly in the Greater New York and New Jersey area. More than 250 shelters have provided more than 61,000 overnight stays, protecting victims from the cold, rain, wind, and even snow. The Red Cross has served more than 3.2 million meals and snacks to these victims. Although the American Red Cross has provided this much so far, more donations are needed to continue to provide the same level of service. Financial donations help the most, but all donations are welcomed.
BMW of North America, headquartered on the East Coast, was in the path of Hurricane Sandy at its Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey location. This was one of the many areas hit hard by the fierce storm.
