The SEMA awards hone the most popular cars and trucks chose by specialty equipment manufacturers to be customized and showcased. This year the Ford Mustang and Ford F-Series pickups were the hottest at the show.
“We’re pleased and proud SEMA members agree with what our customers have been saying – that Ford Mustang and F-Series are the industry’s hottest car and truck respectively,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service.
The recent boost in popularity of the Mustang can be partially attributed to the success of the 2013 model year of the iconic muscle car. Mustang sales saw an 18 percent increase over last year, and Mustang’s sharp lines and bold exterior make it a favorite for exterior customization. Specialty equipment manufacturers love to see if they are able to boost the already incredible performance of the Mustang’s versatile engine options.
The popularity of the Ford F-Series comes as no surprise to the Dearborn, MI automaker. This is the third consecutive year that SEMA has recognize the F-Series as its “Hottest Truck”, but that is only one testament to the pickup’s long-running reputation. The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling pickup in America for 36 years, and is on pace to become the best-selling vehicle in America for the 31st consecutive year.
