Rob DeCou has a wealth of experiences in athletics, fitness, and outdoor activities. With a background in wrestling, cycling and running, Rob is known for his gentle, encouraging words and stockpile of food, water and supplies within reach while he trains. An avid trail runner, Rob spent five years training and experiencing the world of ultra-endurance sports. He has completed three cross country cycling a world record 50-hour non-stop aerobics event in Surat, India in 1997, marathons, cycling tours and endurance rides, ultra-marathons, Ironman competitions and completing the breathtaking Leadville 100-mile run held in the mountains of Colorado.
Rob grew up in the small town of Port Angeles, Washington, bordering Olympic National Park. While training in his hometown, Rob completed three Masters Degrees in Education, Business, and Leadership. His experience and background range from Search and Rescue and certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to teaching, coaching, and mentoring. Rob has also served as a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) personal trainer, CPR/AED instructor, and Defensive Tactics Instructor.
In recent years Rob worked as a Recreational Specialist, a fitness and wellness coordinator for 2 years, and a member of an Emergency Response Team (ERT). Rob has a passion for wrestling and competed at Pacific University where he also got his undergraduate degrees in Business and Philosophy and minored in coaching and religion. Since then he has both coached and refereed wrestling, as well as traveling with Athletes in Action wrestling in Guatemala, El Salvador and Bolivia on 2 separate summer tours.
