Karnataka Sanskrit University held its first convocation. A very prestigious ceremony for Sanskrit scholars in karnataka, was held at Raj Bhavan, Bangalore

Today, 9 Nov 2012 - the first convocation of Karnataka Sanskrit University was held at Raj Bhavan, Glass House, Bangalore. The entire convocation ceremony was conducted in Sanskrit, with translations wherever necessary. This ceremony wore a typical Indian traditional look and was festive.

The occasion was graced by His excellency - the governor of Karnataka and Hon'ble Chancellor - Dr. H. R. Bhardwaj, Sri C T Ravi, Pro Chancellor and Hon'ble Higher Education Minister, Government of Karnataka, Padmashri Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya, Eminent Samskrit Scholar, Prof Mallepuram G. Venkatesha, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Samskrit University, Prof Y.S. Siddegowda, Registrar of KSU.

Honoris Causa D.Litt Degree was conferred on Pandit Sudhakara Chaturvedi, Prof N Ranganatha Sharma, Prof K.T. Pandurangi, Prof C.G. Purushottam, Dr. Paraddi Mallikarjuna.

12 eminent Sanskrit students were also conferred their degrees.

The speech from Padmashri Govindacharya was very inspiring. His core message of saving Kannada language through learning Sanskrit was logical.

Also, he requested to have the ORI based in Mysore under the administrative ambit of Karnataka Sanskrit University.
The convocation was well attended and many eminent Vice Chancellors, intellectuals and other scholars attended the convocation.
