Sustainability highlights from 2012
Online PR News – 06-November-2012 – Southampton – Civil engineering group Trant has underlined its environmental credentials with the release of sustainability highlights for 2012.
The multi-disciplinary company, which provides specialist contractor services for some of the biggest infrastructure names in Britain and across the world, is helping to protect the environment through a range of projects and initiatives.
They include energy-efficient technology, greenhouse gas management, renewable energy and sustainable transport.
Tim Trant, Managing Director, said: "We recognise that our operations, on behalf of clients, have an effect on the local, regional and global environment and effective environmental management is critical to future business success.
"With that objective, we have ensured a 22 per cent reduction in carbon emissions, recycled 46 per cent of waste material and reused 41 per cent of waste material, with just 13 per cent of waste material sent to landfill.
"Whilst these figures are commendable, there is no room for complacency in reducing carbon footprints, individually and collectively.
"We will continue to push for greener practices and outputs in all areas, from the amount of paper we use in our headquarters to reusing excavated soils on sites."
The Trant Environmental Management System is registered by the BSI - www.bsigroup.com - and complies with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001.

Trant, with extensive in-house expertise across the civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines, also emphasised that the key to long-term sustainability of its business is to treat employees, clients and communities in an ethical, fair and respectful way.

• Annual 12,000-plus hours of training for employees
The Trant Occupational Health & Safety Management System is registered by the BSI and complies with BSI OHSAS 18001.
