Fund Encourages Triangle Businesses to Help Celebrate the Fund’s Five Year Anniversary and Continue Yow’s Legacy
Online PR News – 02-November-2012 – Cary, N.C. – The Kay Yow Cancer Fund® is hosting its For A Higher Goal Gala on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at The Umstead Hotel & Spa in Cary, N.C. The Gala commemorates the five-year anniversary of the chartiable organization, established by the late Kay Yow, the former N.C. State University head women’s basketball coach who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and battled the disease until her passing in 2009.
The evening will be emceed by Raleigh ABC 11’s news personality Tisha Powell and will include entertainment by humorist Jeanne Robertson, dinner and refreshments. More than 200 special guests and attendees are expected and the Fund has outlined several sponsorship opportunities for Triangle-area businesses and organizations.
“All Gala proceeds will directly support women’s cancer research projects,” said Sue Donohoe, executive director, Kay Yow Cancer Fund. “Through this sponsorship, the business community has an opportunity to help fulfill Kay Yow’s dream to support the discovery and development of cures for women’s cancers.”
Sponsorship packages range from Presenting Sponsor ($25,000), to Title (12,500), Entertainment ($5,000), Photo Gallery ($5,000), Video ($5,000), Cocktail Reception ($5,000) and Table ($1,000). Benefits include a range of targeted event exposure opportunities, including recognition in signage, printed and multimedia materials, as well as in-venue recognition, inclusion in press materials, and reserved Gala seating.
“Coach Yow made great strides in uniting the basketball community for a cause much greater than any on-court competition,” said Nora Lynn Finch, president, Board of Directors, Kay Yow Cancer Fund. “The Gala’s mission is to unite area businesses in contribution to commorate Yow’s determination and continue her fight to help women across the entire nation.”
In 2007, Yow joined forces with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research to form the Fund, and committed to raise money for scientific research, assist the underserved and unify people for a common cause. Since its inception, the Fund has raised over $7 million and allocated $2.5 million for women’s cancer research and related programs, with future projects currently under review.
