Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year is the largest entrepreneurship program world-wide. The final is held in Monaco where finalists from 50 countries gather. These candidates have, according to Ernst & Young, contributed with new ideas and invested capital and effort to create lasting value and employment.
Martin Jorgensen has been CEO of Net Trans Services in Tonsberg, Norway since 2006 and is the majority shareholder of the company. Net Trans’ new idea is to develop a solution for efficient recovery, reconciliation and payment of ecommissions for travel agencies. A large percentage of commissions from hotels remain unclaimed due to insufficient routines and systems. It is within this complex and opaque system Net Trans has made a lasting difference with its commission software. Creating a complete system for hotel commissions has enabled Net Trans to, on average, increase customer revenues from commissions by 40%. Furthermore, a continuous global expansion has generated employment throughout three continents, including an operations office in Manila, Philippines.
Martin Jorgensen comments: "This award is a big feather in the cap for the whole Net Trans organization. We tend to keep a low profile, customers notice us when commissions increase and they make strategic use of our market intelligence. To be recognized as a company that contributes new ideas and adds value to our customers and our community, locally and globally is a real inspiration for us.” Martin Jorgensen will be one of 18 finalists in the national final at Oslo Plaza, 11/27/12. The winner will be Norway’s representative in the international final in Monaco. Past winners include Norwegian industry movers and shakers like Norwegian Air founder Bjorn Kjos, jury member in the 2012 edition.
The jury’s statement: "The entrepreneur has extensive experience from various companies in the sector. He has, in his present position, spearheaded the development of a unique software solution. The solution contributes to a significant increase in revenue from commissions and reduces capital binding for the company’s clients. Important factors in the company’s success include a close working relationship with customers and a high level of adaptability to the market. The company has built strategic alliances internationally and is today well established in Europe, Asia and Oceania. The jury feels that Martin F. Jorgensen of Net Trans Services AS is, with his commitment to his employees, the company and the industry, a worthy winner of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012, region south."
