DataCell’s Unique ERP Solution ‘GlazeWorx’ Sees Rapid Uptake in Middle East Glass Industry

Increasing business from a number of prestigious glass manufacturing companies in the region looking to streamline and optimize processes and save costs

Online PR News – 29-October-2012 – Dubai, UAE – DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: ‘GlazeWorx’, a specialized, one-of-a-kind software solution developed by DataCell, the software development division of the SCOPE Group, is finding increasing favour within the regional glass manufacturing industry in the Middle East. The solution has recently been implemented by over ten prominent glass manufacturers across the region including Sayco Glass in Lebanon and Technical Glass and Aluminium Company in Sharjah.

“Over the past few years, there has been an upturn in the construction sector in the Middle East which has led to unprecedented growth of the glass industry. If a glass manufacturing company is to capitalize on this opportunity, it must have the necessary measures in place to streamline processes and this is where GlazeWorx gives organizations a competitive edge,” says Mr. Mohamed Dwaik, General Manager, DataCell.

“We developed GlazeWorx after finding a huge gap in the region for an ERP solution that specifically addresses the unique needs of the regional glass manufacturing industry.”

Due to the complicated nature of the glass production process, specialized softwares are required explains Mr. Dwaik. “Working closely with our customers from the glass industry, we realised that there was need for a reliable, cost-effective process management solution that could handle each phase of the manufacturing process. Complicated production procedures and optimization of processes meant that existing ERP softwares simply could not meet the specific requirements of the glass industry. Developing a solution for this requires that the software designers or business analysts have specific knowledge of the glass industry itself. And while there are a mere handful of such systems available internationally, they are rarely adopted by regional manufacturers simply because of the prohibitively high costs.”

GlazeWorx which has been developed in-house by DataCell, manages the end-to-end cycle of glass manufacturing, including purchase enquiry, estimation, sending of a quotation, purchase and management of stock, managing the product lifecycle, monitoring each step in the production process and invoicing. A unique feature of the system is sheet optimization which optimizes the way in which large sheets of glass are cut, in order to minimize wastage of material thereby reducing cost.

An added advantage of choosing GlazeWorx has been the flexibility of the system. DataCell works closely with each customer to customize the system as per unique requirements. Furthermore, the development efforts are backed by highly dedicated after-sales support via email, telephone, fax and an online portal.
