An attempted robbery in Butte, Montana has hurt business at a popular casino.

Online PR News – 25-March-2010 – – The Pirates Treasure Casino in Butte, Montana experienced a hostile robbery attempt which has scared away many customers. The crime took place around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Two local teenagers were arrested shortly after the crime and charged with felony robbery and robbery by accountability. No one was injured but many patrons were rattled and left questioning the casino’s security.

Police say that 18-year old Joseph Matt and nineteen-year old Jeremiah Smith entered the casino with a box cutter and demanded money from an employee. Sheriff John Walsh stated that although both men concealed their faces with hats and hoodies, the authorities were able to apprehend the suspects quickly. This is due to surveillance that identified one of the suspects playing and signing up for a “player’s club” membership earlier in the evening.

The news about the incident spread across the small city and has caused a noticeable percentage of players to not return to their regular gambling spot. In the meantime, the people of Butte are playing at online casinos from home until they are more comfortable about returning. A manager for the Pirates Treasure Casino told Lucky Blackjack that they plan on bringing extra security to assure their clients that they are in a safer atmosphere.

This type of crime is nothing new to casinos across the US and the world. There have been similar occurrences in recent weeks of other casinos being victimized by would-be robbers looking for the big hit. Two weeks ago a Florida casino was robbed at gun point with the story ending with the accused thieve killing himself after a police standoff at his m home.
