Chevrolet has released that the 2014 Corvette will debut January 13, 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show
Online PR News – 27-October-2012 – Richmond, VA – It has just been announced that the next generation 2014 Chevrolet Corvette will debut January 13, 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show. The all-new Corvette will be completely redesigned with transformational advancements in design, engineering and technology. Drivers can expect a Corvette like never before.
The 2014 Corvette is expected to be significantly shorter and lighter than the current 2013 model. It also is set to have a more comfortable interior upgrade. Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer, explained that only two parts are being carried over from the 2013 Corvette- the cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel. “With the new corvette, we set out to build a world-challenging sports car with design, refinement, efficiency and driver engagement that is second to none,” Juechter explained.
The redesigned Corvette will drive an all-new Chevrolet engine as well. This C7 seventh-generation car will feature a fifth generation General Motors’ small block V8, designed specifically for the Corvette. This engine will also soon be featured in GM’s redesigned full-size pickups and SUVs. These new GM models will also be featured at the Detroit Auto Show.
In order to start generating some buzz, Chevrolet unveiled an image of the sports car’s redesigned Crossed Flags emblem last week. General Motors design chief Ed Welburn explained that this new emblem is “much more modern, more technical and more detailed than before, underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car.”
Production of the 2013 Corvette is set to end this February while the assembly plant in Bowling Green, KY sets up for the new Corvette production. 2014 Corvette production is set to begin August or September of 2013. Last year, General Motors released that they plan to spend about $131 million to upgrade the plant.
