Online PR News – 25-March-2010 – – Tea and Bingo have launched the latest in their TV advertisements; this time it features cupcakes lined up waiting to be called. A natural partner to a cup of tea and something slightly more special than a piece of toast or a biscuit, the advert reinforces the association of a good cuppa with something you fancy – a great game of bingo and a cupcake. A cuppa and cupcake or Tea and Bingo go together like – well, tea and bingo.

This is the third advertisement in the series following the same theme, ‘biscuit tin’ cleverly used the rhyming call style and reference to a full house for seaming the elements together, ‘please don’t linger, shortbread finger’ and ‘boiling coins’ kept the hot cuppa tea element alive with reference to something brewing and coins bubbling in a traditional teapot which eventually poured out notes into a mug with a tea bag sitting in it! The tag line – “There’s always time for tea and bingo” makes sure that the £10 free bingo play (on a matched deposit) and pots of prizes information is made clear and the cupcake ad will reinforce the same message.

As well as reinforcing the brand image, Tea and Bingo back it up with plenty of chat in their site. It’s a selling point that many sites try to make and Tea and Bingo have captured a natural association of tea and a chat as an expectation of their players and deliver it with their CMs in their online bingo community.

Airtime is expensive even for 30 second ads but Tea and Bingo hope that the simple but witty stop frame animation with familiar components will attract visitors to their site with a view to converting them to players who will return again and again. Competition is hard fought in the online bingo business and anything quirky that will draw attention to a new batch of players on the market will be watched carefully by rival marketing teams.
