Ceto Surf announces the launch of its new website designed to promote ocean friendly innovators.

CetoSurf.com is a global community of surfers and ocean lovers who believe in the power of their collective stoke. By making it fun and easy for community members to share information about ocean innovators, CetoSurf.com seeks to foster a healthy ocean and a more sustainable surf industry.
"Surfers are natural environmentalists but many of today's surf products are made from materials that are bad for human and ocean health," says Ceto Surf founder, Courtney Hayes. In response, a growing number of industry innovators are developing products made of sustainably produced, recycled or bio-based materials. “But, because most are small businesses with little or no marketing muscle, few surfers know that greener options exist,” explains Hayes. Ceto wants to change all that by inspiring its global community of 10,000 members and facebook fans to help shape a more ocean friendly surf industry. “As consumers, we have tremendous untapped power. Let’s start using it to have fun and do good!”
CetoSurf.com features visually rich profiles of industry innovators such as Grain Surfboards, Wegener Surfboards, and Crooked Blanks, who build boards made from sustainable yield wood. Other profiles will include Enjoy Handplanes and Green Lightening Surfboards who shape custom boards from recycled, organic, and bio-derived materials. CetoSurf.com also features artists and activists inspired by their passion for the ocean.
Ceto encourages submissions by community members and makes it easy to virally share posts with friends. “What makes Ceto different is our call to action,” explains Hayes. “We’re not telling our community members what to think or buy. We’re encouraging them to really engage, use their collective stoke, and be a part of this exciting new wave of sustainable surf. It’s a simple concept but extremely powerful.”
Volunteer-based, the new website also promotes community participation through social gatherings and events, such as beach trash clean ups in collaboration with the Surfrider Foundation and other ocean activists.
CetoSurf.com welcomes ocean lovers of all ages, abilities and wave riding styles. Membership is free. Ceto Surf founder Courtney Hayes grew up in the fishing port of Gloucester, MA where she surfs year-round today. After two decades working as a documentary and commercial producer, Courtney attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where she focused on sustainable development, new media and civic engagement. Courtney graduated in 2010 and began developing a community to connect surfers and promote ocean health.
