Austin Tennis Academy won the 2012 USTA Jr. Team Tennis 14U National Championship at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., Oct.18 – 21, the crown jewel of USTA Jr. Team Tennis. Coached by Kendall Brooks, the ATA team bested 31 teams from across the USA to win.
Online PR News – 25-October-2012 – Austin, TX – Austin Tennis Academy’s “Dream Team” captured the 2012 USTA Jr. Team Tennis 14U National Championship Title at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., Oct.18 – 21 by defeating a team from Providence, R.I. (4-1) in the Championship match. The ATA championship team is coached by Kendall Brooks and features Georgia Wright, Haarika Somarouthu, Alexandria Beardsley Mjos, Abigail Chiu, Erik Alexander Kerrigan, Payton Holden, Jack Ryan Schiffman, Tyler Anson and Jesse Wikso.
“Our players showed a determined focus, an amazing team spirit, and an absolute passion for excellence in tennis performance,” said Jack Newman, CEO/Master Professional of ATA, “and with this title ATA continues to position itself at the top of American junior tennis training programs. We are proud of this team and all our other ATA players who are training to be the future of American tennis.”
The National Championships are the crown jewel of USTA Jr. Team Tennis as the nation’s top teams compete for the title. Each year the USTA crowns a national champion in two age divisions (14U and 18U) in Advanced play divisions. This year, there were 32 teams from across the United States who have advanced to the National Championships totaling 249 participants.
