New Ski Terrain, New Restaurants and a New Activity Center as Aspen Snowmass will make this ski.

There is lots of new this year at Snowmass Mountain, including 230 acres of ski and snowboarding terrain on Burnt Mountain. Also new this year for the Aspen Skiing Company is a restaurant at the top of the Gondola that was just recently added.

Online PR News – 20-October-2012 – 20/10/12 US – What can make the collection of 4 mountains we have here at Aspen Snowmass even better than they already are? More Terrain, and not only more terrain but some of the most fun, different and exciting terrain there will be on Snowmass Mountain. This new terrain will be accesses by a short hike up to Longshot on the far southern edge of the ski resort. Longshot itself is the longest run in Colorado at 5.3 miles, that is a lot of skiing. This new terrain known as Burnt Mountain has been a locals powder secret for years, now open to the public and will be a powder skiers dream.

Burnt Mountain is a series of rolling meadows that will offer skiers and snowboarders a backcountry experience in this area that was formerly known only to locals. Gladed and rolling terrain that is steep enough to ski in powder but not see steep as to be intimidating. The large rollers in this area provide perfect natural features for skiers and snowboarders to catch huge air in a natural setting, like a natural terrain park. This new terrain will bring the total skiable acreage for Aspen/Snowmass to 5,533 acres.

Also new at Snowmass for this ski season is a restaurant at the top of the gondola. The gondola itself is a relatively new addition to Snowmass Ski Area and this will compliment it nicely. Giving families an ideal meeting place who are skiing the Elk Camp side of the mountain. The menu will feature a rotisserie station, full of golden brown chickens; a pizza station, with a custom built pizza oven; a salad bar with interesting, ‘ready to eat’ grains and prepared salads, as well as a soup station. Almost like a Whole Foods on top of the mountain. Once again Aspen/Snowmass will prove to be exemplary in their environmental stewardship, the restaurant that seats up to 300 is scheduled to be LEED Certified and to implement advanced heating systems with other green materials to beat local energy codes by an estimated 30 percent.

On Aspen Mountain there will be complementary yoga for skiers this year, what a great way to warm up your body for the physical demands of the legendary bump skiing on Aspen. Free to skiers who have a lift pass and mats will be provided. These yoga classes will be at The Sundeck with its breath-taking views at 11,212 feet. Leave it to the Aspen Skiing Company to find creative ways to enhance your skiing experience.

Lastly at Aspen this year is the traveling Champagne bar, Veuve Clicquot with caviar and lounge chairs and umbrellas, not your ordinary ski experience and all complimentary from the Aspen Ski Co!

Stapleton Sports and Up Snowboards are proud to have their ski shop in Aspen and to serve skiers and boarders who get to experience this great resort.
