Nissan’s e-NV200 FedEx electric delivery van concepts was recently revealed at the IAA Commercial Vehicle International Motor Show
Online PR News – 17-October-2012 – Chantilly, VA – Nissan has just unveiled their all-new 100% electric Panel Van version of the e-NV200 electric delivery van concept. Unveiled at the 64th IAA Commercial Vehicle International Motor Show in Hanover, the van featured Nissan and FedEx graphics and logos.
Nissan and FedEx Express have been working since December 2011 to test the e-NV200 in real world operations. Their goal was to help shape development of the 100% electric compact delivery vehicle. Currently, FedEx Express operates 130 all-electric vehicles worldwide. This makes FedEx the ideal company for Nissan’s research and development initiative.
The e-NV200 compact van is the second mass-production zero-emission vehicle for Nissan, second to the Nissan LEAF. The e-NV200 combines the advanced power train of the 100% electric Nissan LEAF with all the spaciousness, versatility and practicality of the base NV200 multi-purpose compact van. The e-NV200 will provide exceptionally smooth acceleration and quietness while keeping CO2 emissions minimal. The vehicle will also be unique in offering new features such as quick charging as well as an innovative power outlet that enables the driver to plug in at any electric device and work anywhere.
FedEx Express is strongly committed to improving the environmental impact of its global vehicle fleet, making this partnership perfect for both Nissan and FedEx Express. Their goal is to increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, already achieving more than 80% of its goal to increase fuel efficiency of its global vehicle fleet 20% by 2020. This partnership with Nissan will help FedEx in developing and managing their electric vehicle fleet in urban environments. It will also support Nissan’s development of innovative technologies for overall industry improvement in efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
“As a global fleet operation, FedEx Express is always looking for measure to improve the efficiency of its vehicles,” explained managing director of Global Vehicles, FedEx Express Russell Musgrove. “Through the development and deployment of innovative technologies, FedEx Express has continually improved the energy efficiency and reduced the environmental impact of its fleet. We are delighted to collaborate with a global player like Nissan in the development of an urban all-electric delivery van.”
