Neely Recently Earned an Emmy Nomination for His Score to ABC's Pan Am

Arrow is a modern-day retelling of the notorious DC Comics’ superhero, Green Arrow. Neely scored the series with a full 80 piece orchestra at the legendary Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage. Blake Neely and executive producer/writer Marc Guggenheim were featured on Comic-Con's "The Characters of Music" panel, discussing the development of their creative relationship with one another. Arrow marks Neely's fifth collaboration with producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim on the same project. Arrow premieres on the CW Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 8:00 PM/ 7:00 PM CST.

Arrow is directed by David Nutter and stars Stephen Amell (Heartland, Private Practice). The series follows former playboy billionaire and Mayor of Star City, Oliver Queen (Amell), who returns with lethal skills and an inscrutable agenda after being marooned on an island for five years. “The directive was to make the music big and dark,” explained Neely. “Blake has done such an amazing job” stated Marc Guggenheim, “the whole project has been elevated by the use of a full orchestra and a critically acclaimed composer who consistently out does himself." Neely’s previous collaborations with Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim include No Ordinary Family, Brothers & Sisters, and Everwood.

Blake Neely is an award-winning film and television composer. His recent scoring credits include television series The Mentalist, Pan Am, and film Life As We Know It. Among his numerous accolades are multiple ASCAP and BMI Awards, a Gold Spirit Award, and three Emmy nominations -- this year for his score to ABC's series Pan Am, one in 2010 for his score to the acclaimed HBO mini-series The Pacific, and the other in 2003 for his main title theme for the series Everwood. Neely's composing credits include the television series Brothers & Sisters, No Ordinary Family, Eastwick, Eli Stone, and many more. He has also composed additional music for such films as King Kong, Something's Gotta Give, The Da Vinci Code, The Last Samurai, and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.
