SGS provides an internal tank calibration workshop, held in the English language, from the 8th until the 12th of October at the SGS Malaysia Shah Alam branch, twenty minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur and forty-five minutes from the international airport. Daily transportation to and from the hotel and SGS offices as well as refreshments and lunch will be provided.
This exclusive SGS workshop, dealing specifically with internal tank calibration (http://www.sgs.com/en/Oil-Gas/Asset-Integrity-Management-Services/Storage-Tank-Inspection-Audit-and-Calibration.aspx), aims to streamline tank calibration within the SGS Group and increase benefit among SGS partners. Sharing the expertise of SGS affiliates successfully working in tank calibration and tank inspection, within this workshop and beyond, will significantly affect SGS ability to satisfy customers around the world. Additional workshop objectives intended to greatly increase efficiency are to streamline SGS tank calibration methods and consolidate SGS expertise within the Industrial and OGC business units.
This workshop, considered an investment for the SGS business unit, offers SGS field technicians access to the expert training of experienced Tank Competency Center instructors in calibration procedures. Technicians wishing to participate in the SGS Malaysia internal tank calibration workshop training for calculation using Calisoft must possess abundant experience in shore tank calibration using traditional methods such as strapping/orlm and optional EODR. Furthermore, they must be active calibrators calibrating tanks each year, exhibiting basic reasoning skills and demonstrating sound body and mind.
Those registering for live field exercise trainings should be certified in confined space training and extensively experienced in shore tank calibration using the traditional methods previously mentioned. Moreover, these candidates are also required to be active calibrators regularly calibrating tanks, to exhibit basic reasoning skills and to be of sound body and mind. This particular program consists of hands-on training dealing with field measurement, field documents, field check procedures for the theodolite (angles and length) and in-office check procedures for the theodolite.
-Calibration Procedures (Duration: 1 day):
o Buried or semi-mounded dome-ended horizontal tanks (measurement access from inside tank only)
o Above ground storage tanks
- Automated gathering of laser-surveyed raw data using Tank Calibration (TC) embedded software on Leica 1200 theodolite
- Processing of collected data using TC Excel template with enabled macros (4 hours)
- Processing of collected laser data using Excel template for settlement, tilt and out of round and other data for Tank Assessment Reports
Calibration Procedures (Duration: 1 day):
Duration: 1 day
- CaliSoft (Duration: 3 days):
o Processing of data and the production of tables, i.e. the software used to produce the table and generate client reports
- Optional live exercise at site (optional)
