Highlighting the latest developments in the downstream industry the 3rd Annual Global Petrochemical Technology Conference commences today at Sharq Village and Spa in Doha.

Highlighting the latest developments in the downstream industry the 3rd Annual Global Petrochemical Technology Conference commences today at Sharq Village and Spa in Doha. Chairman Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Jodai, Manager Corporate Program, Technology & Innovation at SABIC (Saudi Arabia) inaugurated the conference and delivered the opening remarks. Following the opening remarks Dr. Al-Jodai gave his presentation on 'off-gases to valuable products: challenges and opportunities'.
The next presentation was given by Dr. Josè Cantavella, Project Manager SIEF/Consortia/Business Development at Chemsafe Srl on the importation of chemical substances and mixture to the European market. Dr. Cantavella is affiliated with Spanish Lawyers Association and Environmental Law Association, USA. He has 10 legal and scientific papers and has participated in about 22 international scientific events and 32 international commercial events. He was the Environmental Affairs Director with San Alf Quimicas SA. Dr. Cantavella spent two years with Spanish Chemicals as Environmental and Regulatory Affairs Director.
For the second half of the day, the summit will focus on the latest trends with regard to environmental friendly petrochemical technologies. Dr. Nimir Elbashir, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering & Manager of Fuel Characterization Lab from Texas A&M University (Qatar) will present on the potentials of synthetic fuels derived from natural gas: the future of ultra-clean in the energy market. Other speakers lined up today also includes Dr. Pawel Popwara, Shale Gas / Oil Analyst at Energy Study Institute in Warsaw, and Dr. Ismail Jalisi, Technical Director at Core Engineering
Tomorrow, day two of the summit, participants will hear from Tom Crotty, Director of INEOS Olefins & Polymers, Pawan K. Bassi, Global Director Licensing at Chevron Phillips Chemical Co LP, Harith Al-Qurtas, General Manager Operations of TASNEE Petrochemicals to mention a few. An interactive panel discussion on paradigm shifts in the petrochemicals industry where attendees can participate.
The 3rd Annual Global Petrochemical Technology Conference will conclude with a post conference workshop on aspects of industrial catalyst for petrochemical producers lead by Rob Parry, Executive Account Manager - Chemical Catalyst at BASF (UK).
