Leigh K Cunningham has published four books across three genres with five awards to her credit. Being Anti-Social, Cunningham's latest title won gold at the 2012 Readers Favorite book awards.
Online PR News – 25-September-2012 – canada – Los Angeles, CA, September 25, 2012 -- Independent author, Leigh K Cunningham picked up her fifth award at the 2012 Readers Favorite book awards in the Chick Liti category for her latest novel, Being Anti-Social.
“Being Anti-Social," says Cunningham, "is a story about being true to oneself. Not everyone enjoys social situations and a lot of people are perfectly happy staying home and being on their own. Unfortunately family and friends tend to think there is something wrong with this and feel compelled to fix what is not broken."
Cunningham previously won gold at the 2011 Indie Excellence Awards in the literary fiction category for her multi-generational family saga, Rain. Rain also won silver at the 2011 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY).
Prior to entering the adult fiction market, Cunningham released two children’s books, The Glass Table and its sequel Shards, which both won silver medals at the 2010 Mom’s Choice Awards. Writers Digest said of The Glass Table, "This is a really fresh concept with a great message. There are lots of eco-friendly stories out there, but not since Miyazaki's Nausicaa have I come across one so imaginative," and of Shards, "I liked the concept of this book; the fantasy wrapped inside a typical, hot, summer day. The mixture of conservation, anti-establishment, fantasy and a bit of Lord of the Flies makes for an intriguing plot."
Cunningham is currently working on the third book in The Glass Table series and a sequel to Rain.
"I hadn't planned to write a sequel to Rain," says Cunningham, "but a lot of readers have written and asked about the main protagonist and what happens to her after the story ends. Rain is a very dark, tragic story with just a glimpse of hope in the final chapter so it seems readers need to know that life is on the improve for Carla Baden. I plan to spend some time in Luanda, Angola next year to work on the story."
Cunningham has hit the #1 spot on Amazon bestseller lists for Rain (Family Saga) and Being Anti-Social (Comic Fiction).
