Online PR News – 25-September-2012 – Lafayette, LA – Girl Scouts now offers flexible pathways for girls to join through. Busy girls of today that are involved in so many extra-curricular activities, no longer have to be committed to the traditional troop and a set schedule of meetings. All girls K-12 interested in joining now have options to pick and choose when, where and how they participate in activities. Girls that pay their $12 annual dues can participate through the troop option if they like, but they can now also decide to attend camps exclusively, or events held by the council, they may also participate in a series of related events that usually spans over a short period of time (example: One day a week for 6 weeks), or choose to only participate in activities involving travel.

Girl Scouts is a century old organization dedicated to girl leadership. The mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Over the course of a year the organization provides opportunities for girls to practice leadership skills with a focus on the three keys to leadership: Discover, Connect and Take Action. Girls discover the world around them and their values. They connect with caring adults and their peers in an all-girl, diverse environment and feel empowered to take action in the world for things that matter to them. They are able to identify problems and advocate for themselves and others.
In Girl Scouts, girls can run their own business and learn five essential business skills by participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. They can travel their country or the globe on an adventure and make friends all around the world. Girls get to understand what it is like to give back and help others through community service projects. Through the Girl Scout Luminary Achievements (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) girls can spearhead a campaign that is close to their hearts and dedicate themselves to a cause. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Not only does it make a resume or college application shine, but those that earn it automatically advance one rank in the military upon entrance. Girl Scouts is well known for the exceptional outdoor education and experiences that are provided to girls, and that tradition continues today.

Girl Scouts is open to all girls K-12 who accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law and pay their $12 annual dues, though no girl will be turned away for the inability to pay. Now is the time to join and discover the friendships and fun that can be discovered in Girl Scouts. For more information on how to join or volunteer please visit
