Online PR News – 19-September-2012 – Atlanta, GA – ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, is pleased to present at the Advanced Public Utility Accounting Course taking place Monday, September 17–Thursday, September 20 at the InterContinental Atlanta Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. The course, offered by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the American Gas Association (AGA), will focus on complex and specific advanced accounting and industry topics.

Taught by expert utility instructors and leaders in the field of utility accounting, this intensive, four-day program course will address timely accounting issues related to deregulation and competition as they affect regulated companies in the changing and increasingly competitive environment.

Rick Starkweather, partner at ScottMadden, will present “Rate Case Preparation and Management”. This session will review the key steps involved in preparing and managing rate cases to help conference participants replenish and update their rate case skill set.

“The session provides an overview of a typical rate case process,” said Mr. Starkweather. “But we will also be discussing how the regulatory landscape has been changing, how this is impacting rate cases today, and how utilities can achieve more successful outcomes.”
