Wayne Guenther of Newport Beach Completes Pacific Coast Triathlon

Fifteenth annual event marked by a ¼ mile swim, 10 miles of biking and a 3 mile run.

Online PR News – 14-September-2012 – Newport Beach, Calif. – Wayne Guenther, a real estate professional from Orange County, CA, has announced his completion of the 2012 Pacific Coast Triathlon held at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach. The 15th annual event was held on September 9, 2012 and part of the USAT Southwest Regional Spring Triathlon Championship.

“It felt great to compete in something that was so challenging, both physically and mentally,” said Guenther, an avid outdoor and sports enthusiast.

“Many participants such as myself were just out there to have a good time, so completion times are not as important as the fact that we were able to finish,” he added.

Beginning at 7:00 am, participants were required to swim ¼ mile, bike 10 miles and run 3.1 miles along the beautiful Southern California coast, which included the Pacific Coast Highway and El Morro beach. Partial participation was available for individuals who did not want to compete in all three phases of the event.

Hugging the Orange County coastline, the triathlon began with a swim close to shore, where participants transitioned to the biking phase. Riding to the Reef Point parking lot, they then entered the final leg of the event, which included a scenic run along Crystal Cove State Park.

Wayne Guenther’s participation marked a return to the sport after a prolonged absence.

“Staying healthy is important to me, so training and competing in these events are a great way to stay in shape, while at the same time, gaining a sense of accomplishment,” said Guenther.

“This was no pressure environment and everyone who competed had a memorable time.”

Guenther says he plans to continue participating in future triathlon events in the California area.
