The book titled Building a Passive Solar House β My Experience Shared is a home owner's view of deciding and building an earth-bermed, ICF (Insulated Concrete Form), passive solar house.
Allen says, βWe wanted to share our experience to encourage others to pursue a more sustainable life.β With the price of heating a house on the rise with no end in sight. βThe idea of never having to pay another oil bill is very appealing and more sustainable from both an environmental and economic perspective,β says Allen, who now lives in her new passive solar house.
This book outlines the experience of building a passive solar house from start to finish by the building owners. Included in the book are ideas to help renovate existing homes to capture passive solar gain. Where possible installation instructions and/or costs are provided. There are a number of pictures showing construction including architect's design development drawings.
Some of the key features highlighted in the book include polished concrete floors, ICF-insulated concrete forms, earth-berm, passive solar, and solatubes.

Published by Earth Haven, the book is available on amazon in both Kindle (also viewable on PC/Mac, Ipad, blackberry etc.) and in colour paperback.
