AAE Summit to tackle the global political and economic participation of women

The Africa-Asia-Europe Trade & Investment will host 6000 delegates, 300 exhibitors and numerous investors from 61 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe for the 3 day summit in Cape Town, South Africa

Online PR News – 30-August-2012 – Centurion, Gauteng – The Africa-Asia-Europe Trade & Investment Summit which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from the 29th to the 31st of October will pay particular attention to the economic and political participation and empowerment of women within Africa, Asia and Europe.

From the turn of the century, the world has paid a lot of attention to gender diversity, the difficulties in promoting it, and the possible remedies in overcoming obstacles to achieving it. Despite this—and despite the significant efforts on the part of both governments and businesses across the globe to close the gender gap—advances in gender diversity have tended to be incremental rather than substantial. In some countries within the Africa and Asia, the participation of women is less than 5% which is a dismal figure. This gathering of influential businesses, thinkers and policy makers is set to interrogate the realities around this subject and assess whether there can be a sharing of ideas across the board.

The summit will have several women speaking and forming panels including Siyakha Consulting COO Dionne Kerr but the key speaker around the issues of women’s participation will be Alaa Murabit from Libya. She is the Founder and President of The Voice of Libyan Women which is an NGO which focuses on the political participation & economic empowerment of women, as well as legislative & social change.

Alaa is a renowned proponent for the participation of women in business and economics and has travelled around the world speaking on such issues and the role women have to play in North Africa in the post-Arab Spring era.

The summit organizers believe that this is a platform to change perceptions and promote the modern agenda. The Managing Director of Egoli Communications which is the summit organizer said, “It’s important for the Africa-Asia-Europe Trade & Investment Summit to be relevant. The inclusion of women in business and politics is a topical issue around the world and we certainly expect some robust discussion around it.”

The summit will be held from the 29th to the 31st of October at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. For more details on the summit, visit www.africa-asia-europe.com
