Green Card Lottery Services Reviewed for 2012 USA Diversity Visa Lottery
08/30/2012's lottery service ratings are now available at for DV-2014.

Online PR News – 30-August-2012 – Albuquerque, NM – published their 2012 reviews for over 70 Internet-based green card lottery services now offering assistance to prospective immigrants for the upcoming annual U.S. State Department-sponsored diversity visa lottery (DV-2014).

Ratings were tabulated from responses to’s visa lottery service survey, from responses to questionnaires received from owners of immigration services, and by examining each website for published fees, attorney contacts, services offered, contact information, and more. Since many applicants are starting to register now for the upcoming visa lottery, this review can be particularly helpful to registrants.

According to J. Stephen Wilson, President of, "Although applicants can certainly register themselves for free in October, a large percentage prefer to use a paid lottery service to help ensure their application is completed correctly and for the convenience of registering for multiple years."

Of the 73 domains in their 2012 review, 17 (23%) earned “red flag” penalties indicating possible understaffing, negligence, or potentially fraudulent activity. As in their 2011 ratings, services were penalized for posting obsolete rules from past visa lotteries, or for harboring viruses or other malware.

One of the review criteria is whether the service provides the applicant with his or her official confirmation number. If a service does not provide this number after they register the user’s application with the U.S. government website, or if they could not verify this provision after two attempts to contact the agency, they were failed. They were also penalized if they falsely claim to increase an applicant's chances of winning.

This year only 13 agencies passed’s green card lottery service reviews, with six (8%) qualifying as “Top” lottery services. However, some services use multiple URLs that redirect to another domain. In these cases myGreencard only reviewed the site that confirms the user’s registration and provides support to the lottery entrant.
