Online PR News – 20-August-2012 – 21 August,2012/Hyderabad/Andhra Pradesh – Hyderabad: Direct-to-Home (DTH) service provider Dish TV, which has launched its new standard definition (SD) box with recording feature named Dish+ on Tuesday, hopes to increase its market share in the DTH space with the new product.

“With over 13.4 million households utilizing our DTH services, our company’s current market share in this space is between 28 to 30 per cent. We expect the market share to grow significantly with the launch of Dish+ as we have priced it competitively at Rs 1,590,” Virendra Kumar Gupta, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, told media here.

The new SD box will be available for sale across major 42 cities in the country which are going digital soon. “We have launched the product simultaneously in all the states. We expect our market share in the 42 cities to increase by 30 to 40 per cent with advent of Dish+,” he explained.

First DTH operator to come out with SD box with recording facility, Dish TV said post the video cassette recorders era, there is no recording device available with the consumers and it looks to fill the gap with the new offering.

“Dish+ is a comeback of recorders in the living room and is a clear differentiator vis-à-vis other alternatives, including digital cable. It will be a better alternative for all the viewers who will shift from analog to digital,” Gupta stated.
