Online PR News – 19-July-2012 – Salt Lake City – Stevens-Henager College has added yet another emphasis area to its Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Administration completion degree. The college now offers this degree program with a Clinical Nurse Educator emphasis.

The degree is designed specifically for practicing registered nurses (RNs) looking for career mobility. It’s ideally suited for RNs who have basic nursing education and want to enhance their skills through an advanced degree in nursing.

The objective of the program is to provide RNs the competencies required for the role of a nurse educator and other advanced or supervisory nursing positions.

Clinical nurse educators are responsible for educating aspiring nurses or training newly hired nurses in a healthcare organization. Consequently, this BSNA program at Stevens-Henager includes courses related to nursing education such as Instructional Methods in Nursing Education and Evaluation Methods in Nursing Education.

The other part of the curriculum comprises coursework in advanced topics like Research in Nursing Practice, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Health Assessment, Organizational Behavior, Case Management, Home Healthcare, etc.

However, this nursing administration degree does not have any clinical hour requirements, as the focus of the program is to provide management training rather than clinical training to graduates. The assumption is that candidates who enroll for this program come from the field and have enough direct patient care experience to not necessitate additional clinical training.

The program is the latest addition to the bouquet of online healthcare degree programs available at Stevens-Henager College. However, it’s also available at the Ogden/West Haven campus of the college and its satellite in Layton, for RNs who prefer a classroom environment.

Candidates with a high school diploma or GED credential, a valid RN license, and the required number of college and general education credits are eligible for admission to this program. Once they start school, they can earn their degree in 20 months.
