New Discovery in Alzheimer's Gene Mutation Study
07/13/2012

A new gene mutation has been discovered by researchers which prevents the occurance of one of the key factors in developing Alzheimer's disease.

Online PR News – 13-July-2012 – Winter Springs, FL – Researchers have previously been aware of gene mutations that cause Alzheimer's disease, but now they have recently discovered a gene mutation that prevents the disease.

This protective gene mutation acts in the opposite way as the harmful mutations. Rather than cause the build up of excess beta amyloid, it reduces the amount of this substance in the brain.

Researchers are very opptimistic that this discovery will be a huge step forward in developing treatments for this disease.

The official findings were published online in the journal Nature on July 11, 2012.
