Punters Paradise is providing a 2012 July Cup at Newmarket preview form with betting profiles, odds, tips and race times for Aussie raiders Ortensia and Sepoy.
Online PR News – 12-July-2012 – Sydney, AU – Australian raider Ortensia‘s next race, along with ex-pat Sepoy of the Godolphin team, is expected to be the July Cup and to celebrate this Newmarket action Punters Paradise is providing a free preview form with racing tips, bookmaker promo codes, AU/UK race times and more.
The 2012 Darley July Cup, simply known as the July Cup, will jump off this Saturday the 14th of July at the Newmarket racecourse in Suffolk England during the festive three-day Piper Heidsieck racing carnival.
The July Cup at Newmarket is a 6 furlong (1200 metre) Group One flat race for gallopers aged three years and up that offers prize money totaling £400,000 ($620,000 AUD).
Considered England’s premiere sprint, the July Cup will start at 3:35pm UK time, which is 12:35am Sunday Sydney time.
Ortensia, last seen finishing down the field in the King’s Stand Stakes at the Royal Ascot, will be seeking to return to her winning ways which included successive Group One victories in the Winterbottom Stakes (AU) and Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai.
Ortensia’s poor King’s Stand performance has been attributed to her inability to settle into the gate, for which the Testa Rossa mare has received extra attention by Paul Messara, with the trainer noting a good effect.
Paul Messara, no stranger to Newmarket success, came within a length of winning the July Cup in 2010 when his horse Alverta placed third to Starspangledbanner. Alverta, much like Ortensia, was coming off a disappointing showing in the Royal Ascot.
In addition to Ortensia, the other sprinter of Australian interest who’s connections have signaled in an interest to compete, is the former Australian Golden Slipper winner Sepoy.
The Peter Snowden trained Sepoy, now wearing the colours of Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin team, would be making his first start since the Dubai Golden Shaheen.
The July Cup has been designated the last race for Sepoy before returning to Australia for stud duties at Hunter Valley. Trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni believes he has the four year-old back to top form, but connections will not risk their prize horse if the track conditions are heavy.
Unlike Sepoy, Ortensia’s connections have stated they are prepared for any conditions, and in fact may very well benefit from a heavy track with several local challengers likewise stating their concerns.
Among the local sprinters expected to see the field on Saturday include:
- Last year’s July Cup place-getter Bated Breath (GB), fresh off a head’s length second in the King’s Stand Stakes, but would likely be withdrawn if track conditions aren‘t right.
- The James Fanshawe trained Society Rock (IRE), winner of the 2011 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Ascot, who was unable to repeat this year when beaten by Black Caviar.
