About the Filmmaker:

Christina Choate just received her MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University in Bozeman--a unique program that teaches scientists how to make movies. Her other student films have given us fascinating looks at dinosaur extinction, the history of marshmallows, a race between deep-diving animals and much more. Her film "The Species Problem" screened at the Portland Humanist Film Festival, Element Film Festival, the American Conservation Film Festival and the International Film Festival Doñana (Spain) in 2011.

A graduate of San Francisco’s International High School and Berkeley’s Ecole Bilingue, Choate is a Bay Area native who expanded from a degree in Marine Biology from UC Santa Cruz to follow her desire to make movies that excite and educate people about the natural world, depicting it in all its fascinating details.

As a long-time volunteer at the San Francisco Zoo, Earthwatch Institute and Blue Ventures, she has explored the world by participating in research and bringing her understanding of the natural world to others.

In March 2012, Choate produced the inaugural TEDxBozeman, a locally organized extension of the internationally acclaimed TED Conference which featured 20 awe-inspiring speakers and was broadcast live around the world. "Vitamin Conspira-C" will be shown in several cities in Australia as part of SCINEMA, a travelling science film festival during August 2012.
