Southern Gothic Festival Writhes Forth In New Orleans

The Southern Gothic Festival, a celebration of gothic/industrial culture, takes place this summer in New Orleans.

Online PR News – 03-July-2012 – 02-Jul-2012 New Orleans LA – The Southern Gothic Festival writhes through New Orleans into the wee hours of July for a three-day weekend kicking off on Friday the 13th. Festival goers put on their darkest playware, plan to drink their cares away, and indulge in gothic and industrial rock in the city where the night outshines the day.

Because this, 2012, could very possibly be the year of the Apocalypse, SOGO 2.5 is all things post Apocalypse. Special $40 and $50 hotel room rates make this event a wanton traveler's surreal dream. A full line up of the South's finest Goth/Industrial DJ's will pound through 30-minute sets on a costume-themed Friday.

Friday, at The Howlin' Wolf's Den (907 South Peters) is the post Apocalypse DJ costume party. The costume theme is heroes (or victims) from a favorite post apocalyptic movie, graphic novel, or real life. (I.e. Fallout, Zombie, I Am Legend, The Road, Book of Eli, anything depressingly post apoc.) A gift for the best costume will be awarded at midnight.

Saturday night at the Big Top (1638 Clio St) The party will be fueled by southern gothic music acts, Ending The Vicious Cycle, Sapphire Rebellion, Prognosis and SINthetik Messiah. Sapphire Rebellion Front Man Tim Curry offers, "I love New Orleans for many reasons, the appreciation of art and culture, and the 'laissez les bon temps rouler' attitude. This event allows us gothic genre enthusiasts to combine those two things."

Each night there will be a number of vendors at the events selling their gothic and industrial inspired artistic and fashion creations. Perusing the vendor tables, festival attendees are sure to find something delightfully dark to brighten their night.

Sunday, tour the city in a retrograde spin on destruction bound for an after party to wake the Crescent City into the dawn of 2013 just to spite the prophecies and rock the ages!

This year's Southern Gothic Festival is numbered 2.5 The SoGo 2.5 Event Page has all of the details regarding ticket entry, special hotel rates, and the list of performers for each night:
