ASID New York Metro Launches 'Dog House Design Competition' For Interior Designers
29 June 2012
The New York Metro Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers is going to the dogs on July 11th, with its “Summer Social With A Bite,” featuring ASID designers from throughout the New York metropolitan area presenting specially designed and constructed one-of-a-kind doghouses competing for best-of-break canine domiciles. The event, at the New York School of Interior Design, will identify the winning doghouses for auction off this summer to benefit the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, in support of neglected, abandoned and surrendered pets. Interior designer members participating in the competition, as well as their vendors, are donating all of their professional time, materials and services to this cause. “This is a terrific opportunity for interior designers to showcase, in a fun and engaging way, what they do best, which is to develop great concepts, designs and actual realizations of all kinds of spaces, inside and out,” said Pamela J. Durante, ASID, CID, president of ASID New York Metro. Representatives from the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation will be on hand at the July 11th event, as well as numerous canine representatives eager to try out the winning doghouses first, uh, paw.
