Brenton Thornton of Thornton Motorsports Inc. has a new team, a new race car, and hopes to have a new sponsor for the 2009 season.

In the spring of 2009 that dream was made a reality and now Brenton Thornton of Thornton Motorsports, Inc. will be hitting tracks around America with the team that bears his name.
With his newly built Ford Thunderbird owned by Rick Allen, of Kansas City, Kansas, Brenton hopes to shake up the playing field and make a big impression on the sport. “I’ve worked all my life to get to this point and to have this opportunity. I’m going to make the most of it.” Brenton said. “I’ve been racing since 1992 and my hopes are to transfer into the ASA Series.”
Thornton has always exuded fearless ambition being one of the few African American’s to participate and be successful in motorsports. “I don’t want to be known as the black racecar driver. I want to be known as the racecar driver who happened to be black.” Brenton said.
When asked about what could possibly hold him back from pursuing his racing career to the fullest Thornton said, “The only thing that could hinder our progress now is not having enough partnerships with companies capable of supporting us. We have some small partnerships but in this economic climate, we want companies to know that we will help them make the most of their advertising dollars.” With the launch of his new website, www.myracerbmt.com, Brenton hopes to attract new partners to his team with low costs and high marketability.
