The event was aimed at sharing an insight into the current issues related to various aspects of the energy crunch that India faces today. Also discussed were the energy options available to India, along with their pros and cons. The role of nuclear power was emphasized in the context of safety and its eco-friendly attributes. The event was organized by Nuclear Friends Foundation (NFF).
Mr. Pratap Anam, who delivered the lecture, pointed out that India needed to speed up power generation or else the power gap in the country would increase even further in the coming years. He added that for meeting the twin goals of environment-friendliness as well as power sufficiency, nuclear power was a prime source on which India could rely for centuries. The tone of the lecture was kept plain and jargon-free, underscoring simplicity and mass appeal – a hallmark of NFF activities.
