A new venture to tackle an impending construction sector skills shortage by training the next generation of design engineers has been launched in the Midlands.
Online PR News – 25-June-2012 – Telford, Shropshire – A ground-breaking new venture to tackle an impending construction sector skills shortage by training the next generation of design engineers has been launched in the Midlands by the TDS Academy www.tdsacademy.co.uk.
The Academy is the brainchild of steel industry Computer Aided Design (CAD) specialists TDS Midlands, and will provide youngsters across Shropshire, the Midlands, and further afield with the opportunity to gain a valuable vocational qualification at the same time as acquiring practical hands-on work experience. Employers in the construction and engineering industries will also be able to sign their staff up to take part in the initiative.
Based at the state-of-the art new Telford Enterprise Hub, The TDS Academy will offer three-year Apprenticeship training programmes studied via day release, making it possible for participants to gain an ECITB Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction Design and Drafting, along with a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Operations and Maintenance Engineering – the equivalent of two A Levels.
The TDS Academy is an independent training provider specialising in the provision of training in computer aided design specifically for the structural steel, architectural metalwork and secondary steelwork industries.
