What's the Big Idea? goodkoop Launches, Putting a Fresh Face on B2C Ecommerce from China
06/18/2012

goodkoop.com is the newest incarnation of the B2C online marketplace (first established by the likes of Lightinthebox.com and Milanoo.com) which boasts global online shopping at a fraction of the traditional retail price.

Online PR News – 18-June-2012 – London, United Kingdom – Founded by the team behind the international beauty sensation - the Model Mirror - now sold and distributed in 10 countries, goodkoop is delighted to announce its recent launch.

goodkoop started forming as an idea over the last few years; through the founder's extensive experience working with manufacturers in China and conversely with retailers in the west, the founders became acutely aware of the many layers of mark-up involved in traditional retail. Much of this mark-up due to retailers' expensive premises, employee salaries and elaborate marketing. Furthermore, the international end-consumer has not yet been able to benefit from many of the innovations in the supply chain on the ground in China. Access to manufactured products in China is high at all levels of the supply chain. Spurred further by the current economic climate, offering trendy and affordable fashion direct from China was now a possible and welcome idea.

In short, goodkoop's mandate is to eliminate all unnecessary costs from its business model and give those savings right back to the consumer. In fact goodkoop translates to 'good bargain' in Dutch. Through its Hong Kong based buying team, goodkoop sources trendy seasonal fashion products - literally being produced off the same production lines as some of the biggest brand names. They are then offered direct to the international consumer at lower than wholesale price points. Worldwide flat rate tiered shipping costs to the individual are based on weight so customers are able to diffuse this cost easily by purchasing a mix of lighter to heavier items.

goodkoop launched mid June 2012.
