Winspear first worked at the Internal Revenue Service’s Collection and Small Business & Self-Employed Divisions, where he was a revenue officer from 1991 to 2007. For the first eight years Winspear’s career at the IRS, his primary duties were working field collection cases. He then moved on to handling bankruptcy cases in the latter half of his IRS career.

In 2007, he left the IRS and became an Enrolled Agent, which is a tax professional, licensed to practice before the IRS. Additionally, he attended law school, graduated Magna Cum Laude, and was admitted to the New York State Bar.

While in law school, he worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Carl L. Bucki, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge in the Western District of New York in Buffalo and as a legal intern for the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C.

Winspear was also awarded the Louis A. DelCotto Award for outstanding academic performance in the area of taxation. From 2007 to March of 2012, he worked as an associate attorney for a highly respected tax law firm and in June of 2012, he finally founded his own tax law firm in Buffalo, New York named Winspear Law Group, PLLC.
