Although October is traditionally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BalanceLogic has chosen the month of June for two important reasons – BalanceLogic’s CEO Bill Campbell’s sister and mother-in-law are both currently fighting cancer and coincidentally both of their birthdays are in June. Each of them were first diagnosed with breast cancer, but have since been diagnosed with bone and brain cancer, respectively.
“Cancer is all around us. Whether it’s your relative, friend, co-worker, or you, all of us have been touched by cancer in one way or another. Awareness of this horrible disease is just our first step; BalanceLogic continues to support cancer awareness in our community as well,” said BalanceLogic CEO Bill Campbell. “We hope that other local small businesses will duplicate our movements and continue the efforts of cancer support groups.”
According to BreastCancer.org, “In 2011, there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.” and “About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer.”
