The BMW M3 from Vivid Racing joined 100 other cars in Irvine, California on Saturday for the Cars and Coffee Meet.
Online PR News – 13-June-2012 – Gilbert, AZ – Dan Mermelstein, co-owner of Vivid Racing in Gilbert, Arizona, made the drive out to Irvine, California for the weekly Cars and Coffee Meet on June 9. Held at the Mazda USA corporate center each Saturday, nearly 100 cars from all different decades and makes arrive to be shown off to the crowd.
VR had just finished the upgraded VF Engineering supercharger on their BMW M3. With a bolt-on Vortech centrifugal blower, you would expect the V8 to be a gas guzzler on the 400 mile journey. Surprisingly the M3 with DCT transmission got an impressive 27mpg on the highway. Coming from an E60 M5 that got maybe 18-20, this boosted BMW did well and was an excellent cruiser through the mountains via the I-8. It was reported to be very responsive when needed and had no cooling issues coming from the 100+ temps of Yuma, AZ.
Once they arrived at the start of the meet at 6:00am, they parked with two other VF620 BMW M3′s. One was also a DCT 7-speed sedan with a Vorsteiner kit and the other a 6-speed stockish looking coupe. From one extreme to the highly stock looking setup, the three cars combined for a total of 1860 horsepower. Unbeknown to others, each one of these RWD monsters made 500 wheel horsepower, which could burn a handful of the other exotics in the parking lot. What’s under the hood from Vivid Racing is always impressive.
